To be a mystery shopper, you will need to have internet access, email, access to a printer (to print assignments and complete evaluation reports) and a scanner or digital camera to upload photos and copies of receipts. Mystery shoppers need to be observant, discrete, reliable and able to follow instructions.

There is no minimum requirement for the number of mystery shopping assignments that you need to complete. Assignment availability is flexible to allow for work, study and family commitments.
What does a mystery shop involve?
Firstly you will need to search and select assignments using the online shopper portal. You can select assignments that interest you and are in an area that you are prepared to travel to. Assignments will need to be completed in a particular timeframe so ensure that this fits in with your schedule. Once your assignment selection has been approved you can download, print and read the shopper instructions so that you are familiar with the requirements and scenario. You must be alone during your mystery shop evaluation so that you can concentrate on the observations that you need to make. Some assignments require you to spend a minimum amount which is reimbursed upon successful completion of your report and uploading the receipt.
Visiting and evaluating a business outlet will take up to 15 minutes depending on the assignment requirements. You may be instructed to make some enquries or to make a product purchase whilst making other observations about the staff and the business outlet. Evaluating some outlets will only take 2 or 3 minutes! It will take up to a further 15 minutes to submit your report online (including scanning images etc.). Once you have submitted a few reports and are familiar with the process, you should be able to complete the report submission process more quickly.

Positions for professional auditors are also available from time to time. These positions are offered to experienced mystery shoppers who have proven their competence and reliability. Auditors require additional training and certification and attract a higher payment. Audits are not done anonymously; you will need to identify yourself to the staff and complete the audit as instructed with their assistance.
How much do I get paid?
Payment varies for each client and is made up of a shopper fee and reimbursement of goods or services (if required). Payment is made monthly via electronic funds transfer directly to your bank account.
