Working at home is great, but you can be unproductive if you don’t have a plan to keep you competitive and productive at the same time. Believe it or not, if you make a successful plan and stay focused on your daily tasks, you will enjoy family time, self-care, and relaxation.

Here are some tips to help you be productive and work smarter:

Tip #1 – Plan your work schedule the night before.
Planning is key to a successful and productive work at home life. If you want to be productive tomorrow, you have to plan ahead. Start a new evening routine that would work for you. Write down your goals and plans. This process gives you a visual idea of what needs to be done each day.

Tip #2 – Wake up at the same time every day, even on weekends.
I know this is a difficult one, but necessary in order for you to be productive while working at home. It’s important to wake up at the same time every day so that your body knows it’s time to get up and get busy. Remember, we want to have productive days, but that starts with taking care of ourselves and getting enough sleep. So, turn off those televisions and cell phones. Get at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep each night.

Tip #3 – Make sure you plan something productive every single hour of your day and write it down on your schedule.
Yes, I am suggesting for you to keep a daily To-Do list that shows your projects, errands, and appointments by hour. You will be much more productive and staying on task using this hourly checklist. As you complete each task, then check it off.

Tip #4 – Take four short breaks throughout the day to recharge.
When we’re tired and feeling fatigue coming on, it’s hard to be productive. Take a few minutes to drink some water, eat a snack, stretch your legs, or do some jumping jacks so you can get a recharge. I would suggest you using a timer to stay on track with your time.

Tip #5 – Eat clean and drink water.
You can’t function at 100% if you’re not fueling your body properly. Don’t let too much time pass before eating a healthy meal. This takes planning, shopping, and cooking ahead in order to stay on task.
